Oil Painting is a form of fine art that requires great dexterity in the handling of brushwork with a keen colour sense. The unique characteristics of the paint material allow pictures to be of a 3D quality with emphasis on the fine elements of the subject, which makes it alive!
This course will be conducted in a conducive environment. Lessons are arranged in a friendly and clear manner so that students could focus on one area of oil painting technique. The instructor will give a step-by-step demonstration on how the various elements of oil painting could come together. Lessons include basic techniques involved in monochrome, simple form still life, colour properties as well as object forms and lighting.

The Oil Painting Continuation Class provides a learning opportunity for those who have the determination to further improve their painting skills. In-depth discussions are crucial for peer critique, and further explorations into oil techniques, paint handling, drawing, space, color scheme, value, pattern, staging mood, texture and abstraction are necessary for one to advance to the next level. In this class, ambitious and larger paintings will be assigned to students.
Realism based subject will be a starting point of your exploration, followed by development of an unique style of your own through further investigation into other subjects. Pre-requisites for this workshop include~ a clear understanding of oil paint application, palette preparation, basic drawing, color recognition and mixing.
